Natural Habitat: River flats, stream and pond banks, flooded areas, bottomland forest.

Wildlife: In general willows are a source of food for small mammals and deer who eat the bark, buds and twigs.
Notes: Erect to ascending branches. Does best in moist to wet soils. Often has insect-induced silvery galls. Yellow-green twigs turn reddish brown as stems mature. Not long lived unless severely pruned back.
