Wildlife: Dense, hairy reddish fruit (from female trees) is eaten by a number of bird species.
Notes: Yellow flowers, aromatic leaves, red fruit. Fibrous root system makes it good for stabilizing embankments or for hard-to-cover areas with poorer soils. Adaptable, but does best on acidic well-drained soils. Use in wild parts of native plant gardens, naturalized areas, informal hedges. Spreads by suckers from root sprouts and tips of branches touching the soil.
