Inventories of wildlife species

By taking inventories of various species, we hope to show changes in the numbers and diversity of wildlife using the garden. In 1992, a pre-project inventory was carried out by many members of the OFNC. [Preproject inventory]

On 13 June 1997, a BioBlitz was conducted at the FWG. Taxonomists spent the day recording all species of plants, birds, insects, lichens, algae, fungi, etc. Although this is not considered to be a comprehensive inventory, it provided a "snap shot" of the FWG at that point. [BioBlitz 1997]

Ongoing inventories are difficult for an organization that relies on volunteers. However, many of our volunteers are excellent naturalists and take time to record their observations at the FWG. The following lists are updated on an ongoing basis.
