OTTAWA-GATINEAU 2009 CBC RESULTS
90th Year
The Ottawa-Gatineau CBC was held on December 20, 2009. This year, the weather was mainly cloudy with sunny periods in the afternoon; the temperature ranging from about -8 to -12 degrees. There were 105 observers in the field and 31 feeder watchers. Sixty-five species (65) were found, including four record highs. No new species were found. The total number of birds seen was 26,441. The American Crow made up over one-third of the total birds seen, although the number of crows was down by more than half from last year; however, it should be noted that last year's total was greatly augmented by crows in transit to a second roost outside the count circle.The meal at the compilation session, hosted by Club des ornithologue de l'Outaouais, completed a great birding day.
