OTTAWA-GATINEAU 2006 CBC RESULTS
87th Year
The Ottawa-Gatineau CBC was held on 17th of December 2006. This year, the weather was unusual warm. There was no snow, in fact the grass was greener than it was in the summer and the temperature ran between 5 and 10 degrees. It was mainly overcast with a few sunny breaks in the afternoon.There were 108 field observers and 23 feeder watchers. Eighty two species (82) were found, 12 Record Highs, and 2 New Species were seen this year as well as 4 high record ties. The total individual birds seen was 41.939, which is not as high as last year but the American Crow still came as the most common bird seen, making up about 32% of the total. This does not take into account the possible overlaps.
The meal at the compilation session, hosted by Club des ornithologue de l'Outaouais, completed a great birding day.
